Denver, Colorado (12/17/2002) --- The Johns Manville Roofing Systems Group announced the introduction of DynaLastic® 180 QuickLapTM polyester sheet. Designed as a modified bitumen cap sheet in multiple ply roofing systems, this tough, non-woven polyester mat, saturated and coated with a blend of SBS rubber and high quality asphalt, features a 4-inch factory manufactured lap coat of self adhesive on the selvage edge of the roll. This Instant EdgeTM provides fast, easy and economical cold adhesive installations.
To install, simply remove the peel-and-stick release film, and press the self-adhering edges together to form an instant, watertight, weather-secure seam. The highly uniform, factory applied adhesive reduces the use of adhesives in installation by 10 percent.
DynaLastic 180 QuickLap has full recovery properties after 100 percent elongation, lending elasticity and flexibility. The polyester mat provides good tensile strength, toughness, puncture and tear resistance, and can accommodate stresses created by typical rooftop expansion and contraction forces. Its flexibility and dimensional stability make it easy to handle. The covering layer of ceramic-coated roofing granules, which comes in five new colors, provides durability and superior resistance to damage from foot traffic.
DynaLastic® 180 QuickLapTM is designed to be used with three other JM components to form a complete, economical cold-adhesive roofing system from a single manufacturer. The other components are MBR® Quick Set adhesive, DuraBoardTM roof insulation and PermaPly® 28 base felt. Unlike most other cold-process adhesive, MBR Quick Set adhesive is compatible with and will not damage the DynaLastic 180 QuickLap sheets. The top surface of high density, low thermal DuraBoard roof insulation is sealed with a special polymerized asphalt emulsion coating that minimizes adhesive usage and allows for direct application of MBR Quick Set adhesive. The final component of a DynaLastic 180 QuickLap system is PermaPlay 28 base felt, which is a lightweight, asphalt-coated fiber glass base felt. It is easy to handle and lays quickly. It has low moisture absorption, excellent dimensional stability and resistance to rot.
