International Builders Show - Johns Manville Name Change Means Strong, New Competitive Advantage

Brand Recognition That's Been Building for Over 100 Years

Denver, Colorado (1/16/1998) --- Last spring, when the shareholders of Schuller Corp. approved a change of name for the company back to Johns Manville, the return of a trusted brand name with a history of innovative products with proven performance was favorably received by shareholders, consumer, retailers and remodelers.

"We are very pleased with our decision to return to the Johns Manville name, a name which has strong, favorable recognition among our customers, suppliers, do-it yourselfers and the general public," said Jerry Henry, chairman and chief executive officer. "When we announced our intention to change our name, we received tremendous support from the marketplace as well as from our employees. We are excited about doing business again under the Johns Manville umbrella," added Henry.

The company, founded in 1858 as the H.W. Johns Manufacturing Company, changed its name to Johns Manville Corporation in 1901 and then to Manville Corporation in 1981. When Manville sold its paperboard and packaging subsidiary in 1996, leaving Schuller International as its sole operating company, the holding company then adopted the Schuller name.

According to Bill Blalock, market manager for Johns Manville Residential Insulation Division, "We have an important story rich in history, to tell our builders and remodelers including the advantages we bring with the new Johns Manville brand, our innovative product line, outstanding customer service capabilities and our new marketing programs and materials. From ComfortTherm™ encapsulated fiber glass insulation to Nailbase foam sheathing, Johns Manville offers a wide variety of insulation products for use in hot and cold climates around the world."
