Theatre-SHIELD combines the best of Johns Manville manufacturing technologies - Coated Insul-SHIELD™ Black, Insul-SHIELD™ Black and Insul-SHIELD™ Plain - for a system that is cost-efficient, effective and versatile, and can be used in many additional commercial applications, including sound stages, studios, auditoriums, amusement attractions, casinos, restaurants and linear ceiling applications. AMC Theaters is a major customer that uses JM's Theatre-SHIELD in its complexes.
Coated Insul-SHIELD Black is a rolled product for easy installation and is specified when requirements are based on performance rather than density. The coated surface is ideal as a backdrop because its opaque surface absorbs sound and light, eliminating back-scatter into the viewing arena.
Insul-SHIELD Black provides a semi-rigid substrate beneath the fabric treatment used on theater side walls. The black, mat-faced insulation provides adequate shadowing behind any surface treatment.
Insul-SHIELD Plain provides a strong substrate beneath the fabric treatment used on theater side walls and above ceilings. In many designs, additional fiber glass thickness can be added to increase sound control between theater rooms.
Theatre-SHIELD provides exceptional sound-absorption and design solutions for theater applications. Reverberation of sound within the theater can be controlled and sound transmission between theaters is noticeably reduced. Theatre-SHIELD also provides high-thermal performance by reducing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, resulting in lower energy consumption and cost.
Theatre-SHIELD products are lightweight, easy to handle, and easy to cut, facilitating and economizing installation. The tough surfaces of Theatre-SHIELD products resist damage, will not rot and, if necessary, faced surfaces can easily be cleaned by a vacuum.
