Johns Manville Introduces ProWrap™ Housewrap

New Micro-Perforated Product Allows for Builder Co-Branding

Denver, Colorado (2/12/1999) --- Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of building insulation products, is introducing a new housewrap product called ProWrap™. A premium micro-perforated housewrap, ProWrap is cross-laminated polyethylene, giving it greater strength in all directions preventing damage from wind and on-site handling.

ProWrap reduces air flow and water penetration through walls both during and after construction, creating a more comfortable and energy-efficient home. Securing the house from air and water infiltration can help reduce heating and cooling costs by keeping outside air out of the home and conditioned air inside.

An added product feature for builders is ProWrap's dual logo capability, allowing a homebuilder to print its company logo on the product alongside Johns Manville. Co-branding provides additional billboard advertising for builders during construction stages and can be done at a low cost.

"ProWrap's unique design resists punctures and incidental damage that may occur during installation," said John B. Smith, market manager for the product. "Because of its strength and durability, ProWrap maintains its effectiveness, protecting framing, wall sheathing and home interior from rain and other outdoor elements that may penetrate during the building phase."

Although Johns Manville ProWrap resists water penetration from outside elements, it is permeable to moisture vapor produced inside the house. Allowing potentially damaging moisture vapor to escape ensures wall cavities, sheathing, and framing stay dry and free from mold. ProWrap meets both U.S. and Canadian building codes and has a 12-month warranty against damage and deterioration from ultraviolet rays that might normally occur if siding installation is delayed.

ProWrap is also installer-friendly because it is translucent, allowing the installer to "see-through" and identify studs for quick and accurate stapling. To accompany the housewrap product, ProWrap acrylic adhesive tape is durable and long lasting while providing superior cold-weather performance.
