Denver, Colorado (8/28/2001) --- Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of premium-quality building and insulation products, has released a new 105" long by 15" wide insulation batt, ideal for the higher walls built in many homes today.
JM's research determined that 26 percent of today's homes have walls that are 9' high, instead of the average 8'-high walls. The new 105" batts make the installer's job easier because instead of having to use a traditional 93" batt for an 8' wall and cutting an additional 13" of insulation, the installer simply uses one continuous batt. "
"Installers will love these batts because they no longer have to piece together two sections of insulation to fit a wall cavity," said John Smith, foam and sheathing market manager, for Johns Manville. "This product will help reduce installation time and provide a better fit in 9'-high wall cavities."
Because the 105" batts fit snugly in the wall cavity, the home will be better protected from extreme hot and cold temperatures than it would be with two pieces filling the cavity.
Johns Manville's 105" batts are available faced or unfaced, and in the following R-values: R-11, R-13, R-15 and R-19.
