Denver, Colorado (3/15/2001) --- Johns Manville, a leading manufacturer of premium building and insulation products, is the title sponsor for this year's Canadian Freestyle Ski Championships. The ski competition will be March 23-25 at Mont-Gabriel, Quebec.
During the three-day event, about 150 of Canada's best freestyle skiers will compete, including the current national team and the top skiers from regional and provincial teams. The skiers are attempting to secure positions on the national team that will compete in the 2001 World Cup. The 2001 national team members also will be contenders for the 2002 Canadian Olympic team that will compete in Salt Lake City, Utah.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Johns Manville to support freestyle skiing," said Terry Sullivan, Canadian market manager for Johns Manville. "As a major building materials manufacturer in Canada, this also is a chance for us to cheer on the skiers that will represent Canada in the 2002 Olympics."
As a title sponsor, the event is officially called "The Johns Manville Canadian Freestyle Ski Championship."
The championships are being held 45 minutes northwest of Montreal at Mont-Gabriel. Last year's event took place at the same location, and event planners expect to draw 3,000 to 4,000 spectators each day.
