Johns Manville Unveils New Packaging for Engineered Wood Framing Insulation Batts

Denver, Colorado (2/9/2001) --- Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of premium-quality building products, is introducing a new line of insulation products designed for wooden I-joists

According to the February 2001 issue of Big Builder magazine, small builders increased their use of wooden I-joists for floors nearly 80 percent between 1995 and 1998. During that same time period, large builders used nearly 46 percent more wooden I-joists for floors.

"Johns Manville recognized that there is a greater need for insulation batts that are sized especially for wooden I-joists," said John Smith, market manager for the batts and blankets division at Johns Manville. "We also realized that our retail customers may need help identifying what type of insulation they should use with engineered framing. Our new packaging is designed to help them avoid confusion."

The new packaging will help customers differentiate batts sized specifically for engineered lumber from all other batt insulation. The new package, designed for the engineered lumber framing insulation, is dark green with a starburst, which differs from existing package graphics. The new product line is currently available in kraft-faced R-11, R-13 (both 11" x 93" and 11" x 105"), R-19 (both 11" x 93" and 19 ¼" x 48"), and R-30 (10 ¼" x 12" x 48").
